Official Opening of Sarawak Plantation Berhad's upgraded Niah Palm
Oil Mill on 27 February 2008 by YAB Chief Minister of Sarawak
Niah - YAB Pehin Sri Haji Abdul Taib Mahmud today officially declared
open Sarawak Plantation Berhad's upgraded Niah Palm Oil Mill (NPOM)
located at Kilometer 75 Miri-Bintulu Road. Upgrading works at the mill
commenced in February 2007 at a cost of RM61 million and the mill's
first commercial run started on 30 December 2007. With this upgraded,
NPOM is now capable of processing 120 tons of Fresh Fruit Bunches (FFB)
per hour as compared to only 60 tons of FFB per hour previously. The
upgraded mill is a modern complex with efficient machinery and is
environmentally friendly capable of processing 720,000 tons of FFB per
year.
NPOM will be able to process all the FFB from SPB's own plantation as
well as FFB from smallholders in the neighbouring areas.
At the same function, YAB Chief Minister also witness payment of
dividend of RM500,000.00 to the participants of Jambatan Suai NCR and
RM468,000.00 of net proceeds from FFB sales to participants in the Oil
Palm Mini Estates at Lot 86 Bukit Kisi. The payment was made in view of
the good performance and high Crude Palm Oil price (CPO).
SPB also presented donations to the PIBG of S.K Kelapa Sawit 2, 3, 4 and
5 RM5,000.00 each The PIBG of S.K SLDB No. 1 and 3 Mukah also received
RM5,000.00 each. The PIBG of Sri Duan Mukah received a similar amount
from SPB. Moreover, SPB donated RM20,000.00 to the Jawatankuasa Surau
Darul Iman Kampung Satap. YAB CM also signed a plaque to symbolize the
laying of the foundation stone at the new masjid for SPB's Ladang Tiga
estate.
